OBJECTIVES:
This was my first real LOC video attempt and it was done as much to learn how to use my video editor suite as to produce a video.
In picking this replay (95) I initially chose it because it has a very cool slidestep avoidance manouevre (I managed to escape Dag's plasma torch attempt). This was the intial scene captured, with the intention it would just be one of several "cool shots". After some consideration I decided to try and make the replay (which happened to be from the Last Day of Campaign mode) into a long-form video. The helicopters seemed to show up in just about every battle encounter, so I shifted focus and used them as recurring theme through the video.
I tried to capture some of the feel from the Apocalypse Now air calvary beach assault in the helo sequences. Some of the middle "repeat sequences" are a little rough in timing, and to be truthful my video editor kept crashing so I was getting weary of trying to build them.
The in-cockpit shots were included to try and give a better feel for the actual gameplay. In some future videos I want to include more of this, as well as some "hands on" bits with a webcam showing hands on the controls as a live action element.
Useless tidbit #1 - the opening sequence was done in a single take, lucky? Probably.
Useless tidbit #2 - the limited edition, green cockpit Maelstrom shown in the video is #200, which I owned 4 different times during Campaign mode.
Useless tidbit #3 - the video actually includes some battle sequence shots from another replay on the same map on the same day (against mostly the same opponents). There simply wasn't enough combat in the original replay to fill out a full five minutes. Our team (Nemesis8722, Dwraith, myself) rolled over the opposing team too quickly.
